Welcome to Puffin Perch, a quintessential New England seaside getaway.
We’re Chris and Julia, and we invite you to come and enjoy life the way it should be. Chris was born and raised in Downeast Maine, and together we claim dual residency between Virginia and Maine. In 2024, we bought a nearly 100-year old cottage on the Corea Village shore, which we named Puffin Perch because of our love of the funny birds (and although Puffins are rarely seen on the mainland, Downeast Maine is one of the few places in the United States where puffins can be found — visit the Things To Do page for puffin tour recommendations!) Over the last several months, we’ve poured our hearts into Puffin Perch, making it our little slice of heaven, and we’re excited to show you around!
Nothing less than idyllic, Corea is a small, quiet village with a working harbor. Lobster boats come in and out daily, bringing in the freshest seafood imaginable, making it the perfect place to drop your bags, relax, and enjoy the authenticity of Maine. If the ocean views from the window spark your creativity, we have an artist’s studio that offers a place to draw, paint, or write. When the daily fresh catch comes in, we have everything you need to have yourself a true lobster boil right on the edge of the sea. It truly doesn’t get any better.
If you’re feeling more adventurous, Puffin Perch offers the convenience of being just a short drive (or even shorter boat ride) to Mount Desert Island. There you can visit Bar Harbor, famous for its shopping and site-seeing, or enjoy the cliffside walks and hiking trails on Cadillac Mountain.
One of the best things about Puffin Perch is its proximity to Acadia National Park’s Schoodic Peninsula. Right around the corner is a lesser-known but equally as beautiful part of Acadia that offers more secluded hiking and biking trails, kayaking, and camping.
Puffin Perch is situated among several dining options, but for those who like to catch their own dinner, a catch-your-own-lobster experience is waiting for you right next door. While you’re out on the water, you just might get lucky enough to spot a puffin or two!
